The following are minimum equipment and operating system requirements. Because equipment and software continually advance, NextGen Mobile solutions must also change the minimum requirements from time to time.
NextGen® Enterprise EHR
Mobile E-Prescribing:
NextGen Enterprise version S.9/8.4 and Enterprise API; version 5.9.4 and above for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS)
Mobile Charge Capture: NextGen Enterprise version 5.9/8.4, Enterprise API, and purchase of the 2019 CPT ® Codes and compliance with the American Medical Association (AMA) CPT code license use rules
Personal Computers
Desktop, minimum: Windows 7, 4GB RAM, dual-core 64-bit processor, USB or PCI 802.11g/n wireless network adapter; or 100Mbit wired Ethernet network adapter, microphone or headset
Desktop, recommended: Windows 8, 6GB RAM, quad-core 64-bit processor, USB or PCI 802.11g/n wireless network adapter; or 100Mbit wired Ethernet network adapter, microphone or headset
iOS
Minimum: iOS 14.x on an iPhone 6s or greater, 7th Generation iPod Touch, or 3rd-generation or greater iPad
Recommended: iOS 16.x on an iPhone 12 or greater, 7th Generation iPod Touch, or 7th generation or greater iPad
Android
For the best dictation experience, we suggest a device on OS 10 & above
Minimum: OS - Oreo (8.x), Device - Samsung S7 / Google Pixel
Recommended: OS – Pie (10.x), Device – Samsung S10 / Google Pixel 2 or newer
Due to the high number of Android devices we are unable to test on all of them. We choose the most popular Android devices in the US and ensure a great experience on those. Running the Nextgen Mobile app on an Android device not listed above may result in issues.
Internal Networking
Mobile (Wi-Fi): an 802.11g or 802.11n wireless network, with a consistent signal strength of at least -55 dB at all points and smooth handoffs between access points
Desktop: either the wireless network described for mobile devices or a wired network of 100Mbit/s or better.
External Networking
Mobile (Cellular): a GSM UMTS/HSPA (“3G”) connection or a GSM HSPA+ (“4G”) connection or a 3GPP LTE (“4G LTE”) connection, any of which must consistently maintain a signal strength of at least -85dBm
Both mobile and desktop: Required throughput to the “Entrada Cloud” varies based on clinic size and should be at least 256 Kbps per concurrent user when dictating regardless of connection method.
Internet Browser
The correct Internet browser version is needed for the portal application:
- Microsoft Edge version 87 and 88
- Google Chrome versions 87 and 88
- Mozilla Firefox versions FF 84 and FF 85
- Apple Safari 13 and 14
Servers
These requirements are for special cases and specific EHR integrations.
