How NextGen Digital Documentation works
If you’re outside the clinic and connectivity is a problem—open the NextGen Digital Documentation application on your laptop computer (a Windows environment is required).
Select the forms you want. Complete these forms by filling in discrete, reportable data elements.
Information you’ve entered is encrypted and saved using Mirth Connect by NextGen Healthcare, a data exchange engine. The information is stored in the cloud.
When you return to the clinic, you’ll open a desktop application which connects to the cloud and shows which completed forms are ready for uploading.
View all completed forms. Next select the forms that you want uploaded to the EHR and practice management system.
The application reads the forms, captures data, and sends it to the EHR or PM system—where data elements are uploaded to the appropriate templates.
Benefits of NextGen Digital Documentation
Gain control of data when offline
Give your medical practice better control over data capture—even when providers and staff are offline. In any circumstance when there’s no reliable internet or cell service, you can capture discrete, reportable data for NextGen Enterprise EHR and PM.
Remove barriers to accurate documentation
Break down barriers to documenting care delivery in settings outside the clinic. whether in a patient’s home, pop-up clinic, street medicine, tribal healthcare setting, skilled nursing facility, prison, or elsewhere—capture data without internet or cell service.
Use inside the clinic as well
Even inside a medical practice, an internet connection may not always be available; for example, during a power outage or natural disaster or when IT systems are down. Use NextGen Digital Documentation in these instances as well.
Get support for accurate documentation
NextGen Digital Documentation works with many different forms, such as review of systems, history of present illness, mental health intake, and more. To support accuracy, fields in each form are mapped to fields in the EHR templates and PM system.
Create your own customized forms
You can create your own custom NextGen Digital Documentation forms, with fields mapped to the appropriate EHR templates.
Bundle forms for added convenience
You can also create a packet of forms. If you frequently use 3 or 4 specific forms during at-home patient visits, for example, you can bundle those forms together and select the packet for each encounter.
