Physicians Quality Reporting System (PQRS)
NextGen Healthcare users nationwide are successfully tapping into CMS PQRS bonuses
using NextGen® EHR to capture and report discrete data elements. NextGen EHR gathers
the data elements required for reporting through the natural course of encounter
workflow.
By properly documenting an encounter, outcomes’ reporting becomes completely transparent
to the physician with no extra clicks needed. And, NextGen Healthcare, as a qualified
CMS registry for 2009 and now for 2010, can continue to help users collect, analyze
and report on data for PQRS.
By reporting on as few as three measures, physicians can earn a 2% bonus payment
on all their Medicare billing for one year. Last year, physicians received an average
bonus of $1,000 for PQRS and an additional 2% bonus for those who were using and
reporting on electronic prescribing.
The PQRS program in 2010 includes 179 quality measures and 13 measures groups. Many
of the measures in PQRS will be in the final Meaningful Use measures, allowing PQRS
users to easily transition from PQRS to Meaningful Use.
One client’s success:
By reporting best practice quality measures through PQRS, Cardiovascular Management
of Illinois (CMI) achieved $290,000 in bonuses for 100% compliance in 2008. They
anticipate receiving $700,000 for 100% PQRS and ePrescribing compliance in 2009.
