Spokane ENT, with 9 physicians,
11 nurses, and 2 audiologists, in three locations
purchased the system in November 1998 and paid
for the system by the end of 2000. Approximately
$120,000 per year in transcription savings was
noted, and they even added two physicians with
no additional support staff. Dr. Giddings comments
that he can leave for home at 5:00 PM, can see
1 or 2 more patients per day if need be, and has
access to data while on call.
Tallahassee ENT documented over
$124,000 in savings (personnel and paper) over
the first two years. A patient survey indicated
that 81% of the patients felt that having their
medical record on a computer allowed for better
care. A referring physician survey showed that
90% of the physicians felt TENT's computer-generated
clinic notes were good to excellent.
