History

NextGen Healthcare Information Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSII), one of the leading developers and providers of computer-based practice management and electronic health records systems for medical and dental group practices. Irvine, CA-based Quality Systems, Inc. (QSI) formed – specialized in dental software

1993
Atlanta-based Micromed formed – specialized in front- and back-office practice management software

1994
Horsham, PA-based Clinitec formed – specialized in software for converting paper medical records into electronic medical records

1996
QSI purchased Clinitec

1997
Micromed merged with QSI

2001
QSI combined Clinitec + Micromed to create NextGen Healthcare Information Systems

2008
NextGen Healthcare acquires HSI of St. Louis and Practice Management Partners of Hunt Valley, MD to expand billing services and revenue cycle consulting division

2009
NextGen Healthcare updates the name of its electronic medical records system from NextGen EMR to NextGen EHR (electronic health records)
